Janis Phelps, Ph.D. earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (1986) from the University of Connecticut.
She has been a licensed Marital and Family Therapist since 1982 and a licensed Clinical Psychologist since 1987.
Janis's consulting and clinical practice has a broad scope from individual and relationship therapy to divorce mediation. She serves clients in recovery as well as those challenged with chronic pain, chronic illness, stress and anxiety, depression, relationship problems, spiritual crises, among other issues.
Janis was Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the California Institute of Integral Studies for 5 years, where she is currently a Professor in the doctoral Clinical Psychology program and the East-West Psychology program. Her research and scholarly writing has focused on mind-body wellness, intentionality and mindfulness/shamanistic meditation practices. Her theoretical orientation is wellness mind-body models and ancient wisdom traditions.
